Find your footing.

Laura Fairbanks, LCSW  |  Psychotherapy in Oregon and California

About Me

Hi, I’m Laura. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, and periods of change.

Many people come to therapy already knowing a great deal about themselves. You may recognize a pattern and still feel caught in it—or know what you “should” do without being able to make it happen. I’m interested in what happens in that space between insight and change.

Together, we can slow things down enough to notice the thoughts, emotions, nervous-system responses, and protective strategies shaping your experience. We’ll explore what those patterns have been trying to do for you, whether they still fit, and what other possibilities may be available.

You don’t need to arrive with the right words or know how to do therapy correctly. I offer a warm, collaborative space where we can be thoughtful, practical, and human.

You might be here because…

  • You understand a pattern but keep finding yourself inside it.

  • Harsh self-criticism or shame makes change harder, not easier.

  • You feel anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure what you need.

  • Trauma, grief, chronic stress, or a major transition has changed how you move through the world.

  • You want your relationships and choices to feel more aligned with your values.

How We’ll Work Together

Laura Fairbanks, LCSW. Daisy Counseling LLC.

Therapy with me is active, reflective, and collaborative. I’ll listen closely and follow your lead; I’ll also offer observations, questions, psychoeducation, and practical tools when they may be useful. Some sessions may be structured, while others may call for us to slow down and stay curious about what is unfolding.

I draw primarily from Schema Therapy, which helps us understand longstanding patterns and the different parts or modes that developed in response to life experiences. I also integrate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy to support psychological flexibility, emotion regulation, and values-aligned action.

For focused trauma work, I may use Cognitive Processing Therapy or EMDR when they fit your goals and readiness.

No approach is useful simply because it has a name. We’ll decide together what supports the work and leave behind what doesn’t.
